At a time when ISDN was emerging and DSL was still in its infancy, I was already part of this exciting new world. Because a large part of the internet is available in English, including programming and technical resources, I was forced to improve and apply my English. This additional skill proved to be an invaluable advantage for my professional and personal development.

In the beginning, Bulletin Board Systems (BBS) and mailing lists were used for information exchange and communication. This constant change demonstrates the impressive dynamism and speed with which the internet continues to evolve. Today, few people remember BBS, yet they served as a precursor for the communication systems we use daily. Much like the floppy disk, which is now only known as the "save" icon.

Over the years, I've connected with people from all corners of the earth, from islanders in the Pacific, meteorologists on a small island in northern Scotland, to people in remote regions of the South American rainforest.

Large platforms like Facebook offer us the possibility to contact almost every third person in the world. It's incredible that we can meet people we would never have met otherwise with just a few clicks. This interconnectedness enables not only cultural exchange but also the sharing of ideas, experiences, and knowledge, making our world grow closer together.

In a time when globalization is gaining more importance, the internet is a critical tool for building bridges between cultures and people.
